Our Mission:
Welcome to Faithful Steps. Here, at Faithful Steps, we are dedicated to providing a compassionate and non-judgemental approach to therapy and your healing. We provide a safe environment where you can explore and process traumas, help you become courageous while finding your voice and purpose amid the busyness of everyday life in a world filled with constant noise.
We understand therapy isn’t linear and the process can’t be rushed. Whether you are here to unlearn unhealthy patterns, create healthy boundaries, overcome anxiety or depression, we are here.
Sessions are available in person and virtually for Utah residents, by appointment only.
Our Services:

Individual Therapy
We provide individual therapy for children, teens, and adults needing support with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and loss, coping skills, self-esteem, personal growth, and trauma. Therapy provides a safe space to explore challenges, process experiences, and develop the tools needed to move forward with confidence and resilience.

For couples experiencing relational issues, communication challenges, or difficulties navigating life’s transitions, we offer a compassionate and supportive approach to therapy. Our goal is to help couples strengthen their connection, improve understanding, and create healthier patterns within their relationship.

Trauma, Growth & Faith-Based Counseling
Faithful Steps provides a safe environment where you can explore and process traumas while finding your voice and purpose.
We also offer Faith-Based Counseling at no extra charge for clients who would like to integrate their faith into the therapeutic process. This option allows clients to incorporate their beliefs into therapy while receiving professional, evidence-based care.

Meet Our Founder: Brigitte Kaninda, LCSW
Brigitte Kaninda has worked with children, teens and families for over 20 years. While working as a site director for the YMCA, she developed a passion for helping students face challenges, develop appropriate coping skills, and encourage positive self-esteem. During this process, Brigitte also helped parents who were struggling with their parent-child relationships and occasionally, their marriages. This is when Brigitte discovered how much she enjoyed bridging the gap between children and their parents and providing support to families as a whole.
Brigitte has a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California (Fight On!). Brigitte has been a Social Worker (SW) for 10 years, has worked with hundreds of students (literally) and has provided countless parent workshops over the years to provide psychoeducational support. In addition to being a SW, Brigitte was also was a Behavior Therapist for 2 years to develop skills to work with children and teens with Autism.
Brigitte has the unique gifts to understand, provide empathy and be “in the moment” with her clients. Brigitte’s approach is to first make sure her clients feel comfortable to share their story. She is aware that sharing “your story” can leave clients feeling vulnerable and uncomfortable. Brigitte uses motivational interviewing to make you feel heard and seen in this process and lets you know she is with you with every step of the way.
Brigitte uses a blend of talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
